Green Bay Packers run over Arizona Cardinals

It was a game of firsts. The first time in 20+ years the Packers had two running backs post 100 yard games. Ahman Green and Vernand Morency broke the century mark with huge holes all day. The last time was the snow bowl in 1985 when Eddie Lee Ivery and Gary Ellerson(now a commentator on 1250am radio) did it versus the Bucs. Another first was the first home win of the game. Being that we sell in the parking lot of the Midway hotel in Green Bay during home games, I can tell you that was much needed. I have watched the glum faces and somber mood for the first three home games. For some reason Packer fans buy more after a win. Hmmm…hard one to figure out. Lets get back to the days when we dominated at home! Then we had Brett Favre with two firsts. His first touchdown run in 5 years. I certainly loved that, you have to keep the defense honest and run it sometimes. The other Favre first was a Lambeau Leap! After the touchdown run Brett was so inspired he took his first leap since……ever! Im looking for some good pics of that one.

It was refreshing to take so many positives from a game and not very many negatives. The biggest negative is the injuries sustained towards the end of the game. It looks like Vernand Morency and Brandon Miree will both miss next weeks game and possibly more. Time for Noah Herron and William Henderson to step back in and keep the ball rolling. The game this week versus the Cardinals was the first time since Mike Wahle and Marco Rivera I can remember the Packers dominating a team with the running game. It certainly bodes well for the future with such a young offensive line. Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz have certainly not been overwhelmed in their rookie year.

Im looking for the Packers to carry that momentum into the Buffalo Bills game next week. With Greg Jennings back look for the passing game and Brett Favre to do a little more damage. A turnover free game would be nice again, I think thats a huge key to another win.
